Owner of DC’s closed Providence Hospital may turn campus into housing

Providence Hospital owner Ascension Health has hired two local developers to draft potential re-uses for the hospital’s closed campus in Northeast D.C.D.C.-based Menkiti Group and Bethesda-based EYA will hold a series of public meetings for input, as well as work with District officials in advancing a redevelopment plan. Potential uses include senior housing, mixed-income housing, market rate housing, and public community space.EYA is committed to an affordable housing component of any redevelopment of the hospital campus.Redevelopment plans would not include the Carroll Manor Nursing Home, and two operating medical office buildings that would remain open. LAKEWOOD, Colo. (KDVR) -- Three armed robbery suspects were involved in a standoff with SWAT at a Lakewood townhome, police told FOX31.According to Lakewood police, there was an armed robbery at a liquor store around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday. No-knock warrant restrictions advance in Colorado The three suspects then ran to a townhome on the 1600 Block of Depew Street, about two blocks southwest of Sloan's Lake Park. SWAT officers were called to the townhome.Just before 1 p.m., LPD said four suspects were taken into custody. Police did not immediately provide information on how the fourth person was involved. One person was airlifted to the hospital after being shot at a South Florida store. Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies arrived at the Walmart, located at 3001 N. State Road 7, Tuesday afternoon. According to deputies, the victim was found inside the Walmart.The victim was airlifted to Broward Health Medical Center in critical condition.
