ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Albany man has been arrested following an incident with police, according to the Albany County Sheriff's Office. Hyron Celestine, 20, is facing multiple charges. On December 2 at 9:08 a.m., officers observed a man in the area of Central Avenue and Lexington Avenue in Albany who was believed to be in possession an illegal firearm. Police began interviewing the man, identified as Celestine, before a short struggle ensued resulting in Celestine's arrest. Police say Celestine was found to have a loaded handgun with a defaced serial number which was reportedly stolen out of Gloversville, as well as quantities of several illegal narcotics and packaging materials. A man has been arrested in connection with the murders of three homeless men, and authorities believe he is also linked to another homicide in San Dimas.At a press conference on Saturday afternoon, Los Angeles Police Department Chief Michel Moore identified the suspect as Jerrid Joseph Powell, 33, of Los Angeles.Powell is alleged to be the gunman behind the murders of homeless men across Los Angeles from Nov. 26 to Nov. 29. (BCN) -- Thousands of California State University faculty are preparing to shut down their classes and strike for one day next week as labor negotiations have stalled. The series of one-day rolling strikes will begin at Cal Poly Pomona on Monday, with San Francisco State following on Tuesday, Cal State LA on Wednesday and Sacramento State on Thursday. Some faculty from other campuses are expected to join their colleagues and not teach on those days. Cal State graduation rates remain flat for second consecutive year Salary remains the largest disagreement between the 23-campus Cal State system and the California Faculty Association, which represents about 29,000 professors and lecturers. The faculty is fighting for a 12% general salary increase for this year and has not specified the size of the raises it will seek after that. HONOLULU (AP) — The U.S. Navy estimates it will cost $1.5 million to salvage a jet plane that crashed on a coral reef in Hawaii nearly two weeks ago, officials said Saturday.Navy spokesman Mohammad Issa said the salvage efforts are focused on protecting the environment and safely recovering the aircraft in a way that retains its combat capability. He said $200,000 has already been spent on the operation. Investigators from Peel police’s Vice and Human Trafficking Unit have arrested and charged a man in relation to a sex trafficking investigation involving two women. It is alleged that the man forcibly confined one of the victims and forced her to into the sex work industry while also obtaining a second victim, controlling numerous aspects of their lives and profiting from their work.
